Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique by which the practitioner channels energy into the patient to promote healing. It is administered by ‘laying on hands’ to activate the natural healing processes of the body to restore physical and emotional well-being, including relaxation, and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Role of a Reiki Practitioner

A Reiki practitioner is a trained individual who channels universal life energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Reiki, an ancient Japanese healing technique, works on the principle that energy can be channeled to support the body's natural ability to heal itself. The practitioner serves as a conduit, focusing this energy to where it's needed most, balancing the body's chakras and restoring harmony within.

Assessment and Evaluation

Reiki practitioners start with a consultation to understand the individual's specific needs and concerns. This involves discussing the person's emotional and physical well-being, and any particular areas of discomfort or stress they might be experiencing. There's no need for medical instruments or imaging; instead, practitioners use their intuition and sensitivity to energy flows, identifying blockages or imbalances in the body's energy system.

Treatment Plans and Interventions

A typical Reiki session involves the recipient lying down fully clothed while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the person, channeling energy to different parts of the body. The idea is to move and balance the energy, removing blockages and promoting relaxation and healing. Some recipients might feel warmth, tingling, or even see colors during the session, indicating the movement and rebalancing of their energy.

Prevention and Education

In addition to offering healing sessions, Reiki practitioners often emphasize the importance of continuous self-care and mindfulness. They may provide guidance on meditation, breathing exercises, and other relaxation techniques that can help maintain a balanced energy system. By educating recipients on recognizing energy imbalances early on, they empower them with tools to proactively address stress, fatigue, and emotional upheavals in their daily lives.
